An inspiring success story from our WCN’26 Yokohama PD Workshop participant, Joseph Tigarea from Fiji 🇫🇯
Joseph recently performed his first peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter insertion independently — a major milestone that reduced the need to call in surgeons and strengthened local PD capacity in his center. Even more encouraging, he was able to train three registrars during the procedure, with one now feeling confident to perform the next insertion independently.
Using innovation and adaptability, the team successfully improvised with a 12F Cook chest drain catheter, which worked perfectly.
