Recently, I’ve been feeling a strong sense of fulfillment from truly applying what I’ve learned.
As knowledge becomes organized and internalized—and even shared through exchanges with physicians from different countries—I can clearly see my own growth.
I still remember the anxiety and uncertainty when I first started placing double lumen catheters as an 1st-year resident in internal medicine department.
With the guidance of my seniors along the way, I progressed from needing demonstrations and supervision to being able to perform the procedure independently.
After entering nephrology, managing more complex and critically ill patients—such as those with severe edema or coagulopathy—has made me place even greater emphasis on safety and precision in every procedure.
For this reason, most insertions are now performed under real-time ultrasound guidance, which not only improves success rates but also enhances overall patient safety.
In recent years, I’ve also had the opportunity to be involved in PD catheter insertion:

Learned acute PD catheter implantation (adult & pediatric) and troubleshooting from international faculty, with valuable insights gained through case-based group discussions.
More recently, I had the honor of serving as an instructor for adult PD catheter insertion at the PD Access Master Class (March 17, 2026).
For me, this is not just about accumulating experience, but a continuous cycle of learning → organizing → sharing.
It is also a reminder to keep refining every detail through reflection and improvement, with the goal of providing safer and more comprehensive care for patients in need.
